After checking into our room, we decided to walk around Downtown Windsor and find a place for dinner. We walked up and down the streets for about two hours (which we enjoyed) before stumbling upon The Cook Shop, a tiny, extremely romantic, underground Italian restaurant. The lighting was almost only by candlelight (ooo lala!) and we periodically got a nose full of fragrant, sauteed garlic because we had a nice view of the semi-open kitchen. It was fantastic! We indulged, sharing a house Caesar salad, Italian herb bread, a liter of white wine, and fresh pasta in our spaghetti carbonara and meat-stuffed tortellini. We couldn't have chosen a better restaurant for our anniversary!
After dinner we stopped by Mila's Gelato & Cafe for gelato, which was heavenly! We sampled their raspberry, whiskey cream and dolce latte gelatos, wow.
Later, we decided we needed to top the night off with some champagne, as we've done for the past two years. We searched and searched until finally we found a bottle and Josh poured us each a sip in our hotel room glasses.
The next morning we walked a few streets over to the Elias Deli Eatery for a late breakfast of pancakes, a ham and cheese omelet, home fries and toast, which were all fantastic. We took the long, scenic route back to the Jeep before leaving; we walked through Windsor's Riverfront (you can see an aerial view in the first pic of this post). It was such a beautiful place, with gorgeous lawns, trees, so many bright flowers, and families picnicking and exercising. It was the perfect ending to our celebration.
