Something that really surprised me after moving to Michigan was how many different birds they have up here, compared to Oklahoma's many, mostly land dwelling, birds. The amount of Canadian Geese and seagulls really shocked me because I'd never thought of much waterfowl being around Michigan but hello, the Great Lakes?! The Canadian Geese are obnoxiously loud, mean (they hiss!) and love to leave little green treats on our sidewalks for us to step in. A flock of them flew about 8 feet over my head once, dropping those little treats in the air like bombs all around me. We haven't been on good terms since. There are probably a few thousand that live by the station and Josh has strong feelings for them as well. "Ringing their necks" is occasionally the topic of conversation among some people up here.
A pair of the geese make their nest right across the street from our apartment and they love to honk at each other, especially in the mornings and wake us up. This afternoon they found some pieces of bread that the lady below us had thrown out for the little sparrows. They certainly let us know they were around and, once again, left us some treats on the sidewalk to step in...
